BEYOND THE BLOCKS
A Block of the Month Experience at MDQ
We’re taking Block of the Month to the next level! Beyond the Blocks is more than just getting a quilt block each month—it’s an opportunity to learn, sew, celebrate, and spend time with your quilting friends.
HOW IT WORKS
Beyond the Blocks meets the first Thursday of every month from 6:00–8:00 PM in our MDQ Classroom.
Each month you’ll receive the fabric and instruction for that month’s project, along with plenty of time to work on it during our gathering. You can start sewing, begin cutting, work ahead, ask questions, or simply hang out and enjoy some time with friends.
Once one BOM project is completed, another will begin, so Beyond the Blocks will continue year-round!
Each BOM will have its own registration fee, difficulty level, and monthly kit price, depending on the project.
WHY “BEYOND THE BLOCKS”?
Because there’s so much more to this program than just the quilt!
Birthday Celebrations
We’ll celebrate our BOM members’ birthdays along the way!
Earn a Free Fat Quarter
Complete your monthly assignment and you’ll receive a FREE fat quarter as a little reward for staying on track!
Show & Tell
Bring your projects and progress to share. We want to see what you’re making!
Sew & Socialize
Use the rest of our time to sew, cut, plan, ask questions, or simply relax and enjoy the company of your quilting friends.
PAYMENT
A credit card must be kept on file OR your kit may be paid in full prior to the start of the program.
At registration, you will pay the registration fee. Beginning on the first Thursday of each month, your card on file will be charged for that month’s kit.
Monthly kit prices will vary depending on the current BOM project.
FINAL ASSEMBLY CLASS
Our teachers are amazing and will offer a final assembly class at the completion of each BOM project for an additional fee. This class is optional for anyone who would like extra guidance putting all of those beautiful blocks together!
START DATES
Each BOM will have an estimated start date listed when you sign up. Please keep in mind that weather or other unforeseen circumstances may occasionally cause the start date to shift.
KNOW YOUR SKILL LEVEL
Every BOM will have a difficulty level listed to help you choose the project that’s right for you.
If you are a brand-new sewer, we encourage you to take our Intro to Quilting class prior to signing up for Beyond the Blocks.
