We are a mother-daughter quilting duo who loves the art of quilting and spreading that joy to our customers!

MDQ Designs is a family owned and operated quilt shop located in the northeast corner of Colorado in the town of Julesburg (the Gateway to Colorado.)  In 2010, after years of enjoying quilting for herself, Jaci Van Zee convinced her daughter Leah (fresh out of college) to co-purchase a long-arm quilting machine and begin quilting for others.  Leah was a quick learner and her eye for picking the perfect design to enhance customer quilts resulted in a loyal and growing customer base.  In 2020 the longarm was moved from Leah’s home to 205 Elm Street where a quilting studio was developed.  The business grew to include fabric and notions, Pfaff sewing machines, and retailing online.

Our favorite part of the quilting process is matching fabrics to patterns and pre-cutting everything.  This led to marketing pre-cut quilt kits for those quilters who would rather leave these tasks to others and simply sit down and begin sewing their next creation!  Classes are also being held for beginners and seasoned quilters alike at our studio.  We are eager to see where this path leads us as our business grows and takes on a personality all its own. On behalf of Mother Daughter Quilting Designs, we welcome you to our little corner of Colorado and the online quilting world.
